We’re Loving: Great Hall Scott

Great Hall Scott is one of my favorite daily reads – Carly Hall-Scott has a knack for feeding readers with all sorts of inspiration, a curated combination of her personal work and all the things that she loves. A favorite category of hers is too hard to pick, but it’s pretty easy to get lost in her picture palettes.
Carly has done a great job branding Great Hall Scott. Little details like different watermarks for each category make a bigger impact than most bloggers realize. Of course I’m a fan as she rocks my favorite (non)color palette and has opted to keep the navigation clean with super simple rollovers in different shades of gray. Great work.

We’re Loving: 70percentpure

Inspiring: check. Wanderlust-inducing: check. Great design: check. Belgium-based blog, 70percentpure does a great job covering all my favorite’s when it comes to blog-land and I definitely have found myself lost in Steph’s world, about 30 pages in, more times than I can count. Great job!
I have a thing for a well-curated blog and that’s exactly what 70percentpure is – from traveling (love Steph’s travel agenda and wishlist!) to design, to pretty obsessions and literature, everything reads like a perfect collection of experiences. If you’re ever in Boston, Steph we’d definitely have margaritas with you!

We’re Loving: Elegant Mess

An Elegant Mess is aptly named. And seriously distracting. Home to all things creative, quirky, and beautiful, this tumblr blog is a mecca of the visually curated – perfect for when you’re on the hunt for inspiration.

We’re Loving: le project d’amour

I basically want to be blogger Hila Shachar when I grow up. It’s not just content, or her tremendous and honest way with words, Shachar creates an experience with each post. Dreaming of traveling on the Orient Express, making lists of things to do, to read, where to go… And of course, probably one of the harder posts to write for any writer: talking about your own writing – it really makes her one of my favorites.

We’re Loving: Park & Cube

Shini Park does an absolutely wonderful job with her London-based fashion and lifestyle blog, Park & Cube. Her photography is beautifully shot, and, wait for it… HUGE. Dedicating an entire 900 pixels of space to her photos, then juxtapositioning them along-side an understatedly-chic logo and small typefaces, Shini has created what I like to call a blog masterpiece. Filled with fashion and design inspiration, this is a much needed addition to anyone’s daily blog loop. Basically I want to be best friends with her :)

ACTA: The Next in Line

The Internet has been a strange place for the last couple of days – well, weeks really – between all the SOPA/PIPA protests, Megaupload and the FBI crackdown on all filesharing services, and let’s not forget about Anonymous and their, er, many methods of hitting back.

But next in line, and coming together in a more global perspective, is ACTA.

So what does that even mean?

Well, ACTA stands for the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. This is a new intellectual property enforcement treaty, in the same vein of PIPA and SOPA, that is being negotiated by the US, Canada, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates – all of which have just recently announced that they will joining in as well.

Why should you care?

The bottom line: the treaty (surprise, surprise) is written with stand with an incredibly broad scope, involving new tools to target what is considered as filesharing – be it an actual filesharing network or a small blog – all to create and increase international cooperation.

Reassuring, right? And equally uncomfortable, for sure. What you can do is keep yourselves educated. There are a bunch of great links going around for starting points, to learn more about ACTA and what it really means. As always, we’re going to do our best to keep on top of things and keep you informed.
