We’re Loving: Pages from my Moleskin

Ella, creator of Melbourne-based art and design blog, Pages from my Moleskin, just signed up for Directory B last week and we’re already smitten. Her writing style has an almost calming effect, her point of view intriques, her content is fresh and inspiring… and let’s not get started on the architectural eye candy that floods her pinterest. Add a cute theme from from Blog Milk to the mix and this chick from down under has found a winning combination – seriously, check her out.

Blogger QA: FLUX. Boston

Today’s blogger QA holds a special place in our hearts. Both of us have been long-time fans of Liz’s art blog, FLUX. Boston, and were thrilled to help her with a redesign and revamp last year (which quickly became an excuse for weekly wine, pizza and gossip). Liz has an amazing curatorial skill and shines a light on Boston’s creative scene unlike anyone else. Covering exhibits, artist interviews, and her own personal inspiration, Liz has changed how many view art in her community – and we’re constantly impressed.

Read all about the history of FLUX., how Liz finally embraced 140 character limits and what she has in store next after the jump!

The Artful Desperado Picks

Who:

  • Design Crush - apart from having hypochondriac pets and stalking professional mascots – Kelly Beall fills her blog with wonderful design finds, daily musings and even some design-y polls. Ah, yah!
  • Design Darling – 22 year old Mackenzie shows her eternal love for fashion and interior design through her colourful blog – she’s even opened up an online boutique with the same theme! Talk about branding.
  • Design Evolution - Darwin would’ve been so proud of Michelle – the gal behind the blog – for having so many pages dripping with inspiration…..that’s if he was into decor, mood boards and entertaining – which I’m sure he was, he just didn’t say it.

What can we learn from them?

Find your niche!

These fine ladies have found theirs. Just by reading the name of their blog you know the theme and the type of people that will mingle in there. It’s a total magnet for creative minds. You can do the same with your own blog, whatever your topic is.

Yes, there are more than 350+ million blogs in the world, but there are also more than a billion internet users. That’s A LOT of eyes looking for a place to hang out – cue: your blog! Take advantage of these giant stats and create a blog that speaks to your audience. Make it about something your’re good/expert at, that way you’ll always feel inspired to create original content, keeping it fresh and engaging. Trust me, always keep your niche in mind and soon enough you’ll jumping up and down because your blog has been featured on The Huffi for “Awesome blogs to follow”.

Happy blogging!

Gabe

We’re Loving: Globetrotter Diaries

Ok so Globetrotter Diaries makes us hungry. Very hungry. Based out of LA, best friends Karen and Valerie are inspired by, well, food – and have taken on a task to research, explore, and celebrate an amazing range of world cuisine. With beautiful photos, approachable recipes and great design, the two have created a blog worth savoring over.

Our favorite post? These ladies wrote an actual beginners’ guide to roasting a whole pig… that doesn’t make it seem like a terrible idea – impressed!
